Big Bang

27 Apr

I appreciate Sufi poetry and music  for its lyrical and rhythmical energy, jolting the mind and body, shifting awareness that takes us outside ourselves. During a regular day, things risk seeming redundant and mundane.  But in every little creation, interaction, exists a “big bang” like chemistry,  explaining the ways of the universe and beyond. This piece of poetry puts it nicely:

“The sound was heard by the ear of life
only thing left was oblivion
As wondrous love revealed itself
The fairy vanished… The ecstasy lost
Nor you remained… Nor I was found
Mere Oblivion was all there was”
Raqs-e-Bismil (Sufi Poetry)
